Aquarius

Composed by Martin Hybler in 2022

Double Concerto for two saxophones, strings and piano

Aquarius was composed by Czech composer Martin Hybler in early 2022 as the result of an international consortium led by the Covert Ensemble. The work is in three movements, and is orchestrated for two saxophones, piano, and string orchestra. The music is classical in style, but certainly and deliberately influenced by jazz and pop elements. It is about 16 minutes in duration and is the rare combination of accessible and also musically fulfilling. We recorded this music with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra (Peter Rubardt - Music Director) and pianist Tingting Yao on March 27th, 2022. Our recording was edited by Dave Camwell and mixed by Martin Stupka.Â
